Class Project, semester-long in Identity Design at Michigan State University
Overview:
Initially given the assignment of choosing an existing company or creating one, Design Pupils was a semester-long project, implementing identity of the created brand across mediums and platforms.

Design Pupils is a concept for a non-profit extracurricular program, that teaches areas of design to high school students in underprivileged communities.

Design Pupils extracurricular program would be based in the center of an economically disadvantaged community, and cater towards a diverse audience of high school students showing interest and artistic potential. Areas covered in the program would be graphic design, user experience design, product design, basic motion design and animations, and illustration.
The field of design is one of privilege and exclusion. Why is that? Well, acquiring the necessary tools to become a designer requires a certain amount of affluence and wealth. Expensive technology, design programs and education required to become a designer create a barrier for youth who would otherwise be interested in design as a career.
Problem:
Solution:
The goal of Design Pupils is to inspire and equip an economically diverse group of youth to be the next generation of designers. Beginning in Detroit, the program would expand to other schools and urban areas. There would be collaborations with local design studios and professionals to build mentorship connections in the local community.

Logo Process Work
The Design Pupils logo began as a idea to incorporate an anatomical eye, as a duel-meaning for the meaning of "pupil" - an eye and a student. It also references the visual aspect of the program, that students are learning an art form.
There are two styles referenced, a futuristic look with hints of 1920's art deco. The later style is found in many buildings in Detroit, where the program is originating from.
